High Five for Friday

Picking the first ripe berries from our strawberry plant. They’re small, but much sweeter than store-bought.

Relaxing evenings outside with Harry Potter and our favorite Black Stallion 2010 Napa Valley Merlot (in redneck stemware, natch).

Dave surprised me with a little welcome home package after a recent trip – he included a new magazine, chocolate, flowers (that are now planted outside the front door), and a movie. And, because he knows how crabby I am after a day of traveling, he even set out an ice-cold beer in a frosty mug. Best guy ever.

Speaking of Dave, one afternoon this week he sent me a text with the above picture of Whiskers and the caption: “I’m Catrick Dempsey. You can call me McSleepy.”

Ice Cream

Tillamook Chocolate Peanut Butter ice cream. Tillamook is the only brand of ice cream that tempts me to polish off the entire tub in one sitting, and the Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor is especially delicious (thanks in large part to the huge chocolate ganache ribbon that can be seen in the upper right-hand corner of my mug). If you’re not into chocolate, the Marionberry Cobbler is equally fantastic.

  1. Closet Strategy

Beer, chocolate and ELLE Magazine are the perfect antidote to travel crabiness. Although I feel guilty paying for it, and wasting the paper – there’s something so satisfying about thumbing through an actual magazine (vs. looking at the online version). What a nice guy!!
